After releasing its first electric scooter almost six years ago, Ather Energy has now introduced its second model, the Ather Rizta. The Rizta’s costs range from Rs 1.10 lakh to Rs 1.45 lakh (all figures are initial ex-showroom). The Rizta is noticeably larger than the sleek 450 variants because it is intended for families looking for a scooter.
The Rizta electric scooter comes in two main models and three variations: the Rizta S and two Rizta Z derivatives that differ in terms of their battery packs. The flagship scooter’s entry level is the S model, which is followed by the mid-spec Z. Both versions have a 2.9 kWh battery pack and an IDC range of 123 kilometers. The IDC range of the range-topping Rizta Z, on the other hand, is 160 miles on a full charge thanks to a larger 3.7 kWh pack. - Ather Rizta prices range from Rs 1.10 lakh to 1.45 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom).
- Available with two battery options – 2.9 kWh and 3.7 kWh.
- Rizta employs the same mid-drive motor as the 450 series, but with lower peak output.
The Z models are the only ones with turn-by-turn navigation, whereas the S merely has a backrest and integrated Google Maps. Its top speed of 80 kmph and its two riding modes—Zip and SmartEco—are shared by all three versions. In addition, riding assistance functions from the 450 series, like MagicTwist, AutoHold, and Reverse Mode, are retained.
Similar to the 450S, the Rizta S has a 7.0-inch non-touch digital deepview display mounted in the dash. In contrast, the Z models include a 7.0-inch TFT touchscreen, similar to the one found on the 450X electric scooter. In addition to having a front disc brake, a 12-inch alloy wheel, and a telescopic fork, the scooter also has a wraparound LED tail light and a protective cover for the last drive. It offers more underseat storage than the 450 (22 liters) at 34 liters. Additionally, a 22-liter frunk is included with the Rizta.
To put things in context, the Bajaj Chetak, TVS iQube, and Ola S1 Air are the main competitors of the Rizta. The Chetak is currently priced between Rs 1.23 lakh and Rs 1.47 lakh, while the iQube is priced between Rs 1.37 lakh and Rs 1.46 lakh, following the termination of the FAME subsidy plan. Meanwhile, the S1 Air costs Rs 1.05 lakh (ex-showroom, all prices include EMPS subsidy).
Bookings for the Ather Rizta are now open and deliveries will commence from June 2024.
